What to Expect in the Purdue Vet Kira Assessment
Kira is an asynchronous video assessment. You are shown a question, given a short window to think, and then the camera starts recording on its own. There is no interviewer to read, no retake, and no chance to polish. That combination is what makes it feel harder than a normal interview even when the questions are ordinary.

Structure under a hard timer
Raters score complete answers. A response that opens with a clear position, gives one specific example, and closes deliberately beats a richer answer that gets cut mid-sentence.
Motivation that is specific
Expect at least one question about why this path and why Purdue Vet. Generic service language scores flat. Name the experience that actually moved you and what it showed you about the work.
Communication on camera
Eye contact with the lens, steady pace, and plain language matter here in a way they do not in writing. Raters are partly judging whether you would be understood by a patient or a colleague.
Judgement in messy situations
Scenario questions ask what you would do when a team member, a patient, or a supervisor puts you in a difficult position. Name the issue, weigh the people affected, and commit to a first step.

Questions about failure, feedback, or weakness are rated on honesty and change. An actual moment plus the specific thing you do differently now outperforms any polished non-answer.
